Gerlos Alpine Road - Motorcycle Heaven

A winding road to the unique waterfalls
In 2004 the "Gerlos Alpine Road Bikers' Point" was constructed on the well-built 12km Gerlos Alpine Road above the Schönmoosalm Inn. From there one has the loveliest view of the Krimml Waterfalls.

Motorcycle Heaven Project
In the spring of 2003, the Grossglockner High Alpine Road PLC started the Motorcycle Heaven project, which is both ambitious and unequalled to date. Motorcyclists visiting the Grossglockner High Alpine Road were to be offered mores service, comfort, safety and thus an even more intensive experience.

Due to the excellent response from the motorcyclists questioned on the route, the Grossglockner High Alpine Road PLC decided to continue with the successful project, and together with the Gerlos Alpine Road and the Nockalm Road, also extend it to the Villach Alpine Road.

The Plus for Motorcyclists
  • The installation of a "Bikers' Point" on the "Wasserfallblick" parking area (1,543m) with information of routes and accommodation
  • Installation of preferential parking areas reserved for motorcycles next to the entrance to the Krimml Waterfalls and the Water Wonder World with "Bikers' Safes" for intermediate safe keeping of equipment not required
  • Reasonably price touring tickets
  • Free 50-page informative brochure "The Grossglockner - Bikers Heaven" with dream tours of the Hohe Tauern National Park. 


The free brochure is available at all  ADAC and ÖAMTC offices, at the Grossglockner High Alpine Road cash points and at the Gerlos Alpine Road, the Nockalm Road, the Villach Alpine Road and the Malta High Alpine Road (while supplies last).
